5 tips to stay healthy & get fit in the new year!

1) START WITH A FRUIT
Fruits are not only high in fiber but also contain antioxidants. Eating a fruit first thing in the morning is also a good way not to give your stomach "too much load" to digest. You don't run a marathon as soon as you wake up in the morning, you would rather warm up before you do. So think of the fruit as your warm-up, have your breakfast 20mins after your warm up meal!
                                   
                                                                                             2) GO VEGAN 
(or at least Vegetarian) 
Save the animals, save yourself! Meat (animal flesh) takes anywhere between 1 to 3 days to digest. So you are wasting that much more energy on digesting food when it could be used elsewhere. Fruits, vegetables , grains and nuts take not more than 3 to 4 hours to digest. 3) HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH
Cup both your hands like the image to your left. Imagine there are 2 more hands above, closing the gap acting like a lid. This is the amount you should be eating per meal. 




4) DANCE 
Take up on that new year resolution and learn that new dance style you always wanted to know! Sign up for Belly dance, Salsa, Hip- hop, Contemporary, Bharatnatyam or Kathak. Not only does dancing give you a feel good factor, it also helps you burn those calories to get into shape!
5) MEDITATE
Even if it is for 10 minutes in the day. Apart from having a lot of benefits,  it calms you down and increases your focus. Its not something you do only when you're 60, its cool to meditate!
